I returned to Utah to see my sister walk in the Spring BYU Commencement exercises early this year. It was fun. It was funny to sit in the audience with friends and family, especially our special guests Ale & Gabriela.
I hadn't occurred to me until we were seated at the ceremony that I considered what the baby's (Gabriela) reaction would be to all the ruckus in the Marriott. When the presentation finally started there was a roaring round of applause for the graduates. Gabriela turned her head everywhere in confusion, freaked out and started crying. She calmed down when the applause ceased, but there was a series of clapping for the Master's graduates, the PHDs, the faculty, the supporting family members..etc etc etc.
It went on and on. Poor baby. Anyway, when I saw that the applause kept coming I tried plugging Gabriela's ears with the palms of my hand; it worked! No crying.
It was super cute to have Gabriela and Juliet play together. They'd bumped into each other before, but this was the first time they could actually play together. This is Juliet headed toward an unaware Gabriela. Watch Juliet point.
