Good Morning World

It is early Sunday morning about 7:00am. I awoke out of a dream around 5:30am and have been wide awake since. Dreams are a funny thing, I haven't been awake like this in a awhile. I shouldn't be up. But in cases such as this I make sure I check my cell phone for calls or messages, I also check my email for messages. What am I looking for? It's been my experience to get a call or visitor when I am awake for no reason. Although that has not been consistent lately, I still make sure I check some things before I go to sleep.

I am terribly hungry, but it is too early to eat. My stomach won't like what I eat.

It looked like Ale was awake for a brief moment. It does not look like she is awake anymore. I also saw that I also had a message from a woman I am helping with some family history work. I had a family history class in which my professor mentioned a website that we could volunteer some time to if we wanted. The site was "Random Acts of Geneological Kindness". Individuals who were elsewhere and could not get to records in other states would ask individuals in the area to seek out some records.

I enjoyed my Family History class very much. In my class we had projects to look for family records and this was our assignment throughout the semester. I was somewhat disheartened because no state library or other archive has much information for me to search and find records. Most of what I need, I know where those records are and a more comprehensive list is in the hands of my uncles and aunts in the church. So I could not really participate in the assignment and get the same feeling of finding family members. However, it was a great start to get myself thinking about what more I had to do. But I still had to fulfill assignments certain certain types of records. So I conversed with my professor and I believe he gave me a name to research. It was fun, but I knew very different from what my own family research experience would be. Nonetheless, I think it is good for me to have the practice. Why? I don't know. I just know I should be aware. Perhaps for the very reason that I have undertaken the request of this woman. Because I want to help her find her family. My theology lets me know how important family members are, and should I need the same help when the time comes....I hope someone will assist me in helping my family.

I was inspired by a story I heard on "The Story" on NPR this week about a woman who was looking for surviving members of her mother's family from the Holocaust I was really touched by he portion when the woman was in an archive in another country and she was being assisted by the librarian or archivist. When the archivist finally found a family name she presented it to the the woman and the woman asked if she could touch the signature of this one family member, where at one point they had also touched. She became tearful and something happened to the librarian. In the beginning she was a little strict and unattached to this moment of searching, but after she saw the women tearful she turned around and frantically searched through other records for more family names. The closing time was quickly at hand, but when asked if she had to leave she waved her had to inaudibly say, "Don't worry about it. Let's keep searching".

It was after this story I remembered the website I heard in class. So I sought after it and soon after got the request from the woman.

The sun is coming out. I will try to rest awhile more.
